Hahaha! I'm having a blast! But I get a little creeped out by my own pictures :P I'm thinking maybe I'll turn down the surreal a bit next time. Who knows? So for the cat picture I used both the content aware scaling and the Smart Sharpen tool. Poor kitty! Then for the space picture I found a few pix, made the color scheme similar, and cropped them up big time. A couple of them are at totally different angles than the originals. I used the liquify tool to change the angles of the light rays (after scaling them) and extracted various things, as well as using masks all over the main file. I found that some of the effects I wanted required more than one layer of the same thing, but in different orders. The light rays, for example, are beneath and above the rocks. I discovered a trick to making a mask fade in: Use a big paint brush and skirt around the edge. So there ya have it!
